DOUGLASS CONTINUES MARCH INTO POSTSEASON

Justin Berry had 16 points, and senior guard Omar Strong added 14 as No. 4 Douglass High capped an undefeated run in the Baltimore City Division II with a 61-44 victory over Forest Park Friday afternoon.

Junior forward Robert Eubanks had 11 points for the Ducks (17-4 overall, 8-0 in Division II), who will play Divison I champ and No. 2 Lake Clifton for the city title Feb. 27 at Lake Clifton. Senior Carlos Smith led Forest Park (6-11, 3-5) with 14. The Foresters will next compete in the Class 1A North Region tournament in a couple of weeks.  

Douglass: Eubanks 11, Strong 14, McCray 6, Simms 6, Berry 17, Brewer 6. Totals 21 10-13 61.
Forest Park: Smith 14, Allen 2, Stanton 4, Sutton 7, Flowers 2, Payton 6, Hunter 2, Gardman 9. Totals 16 7-11 44. Halftime: Douglass 32, Lake Clifton 27.


Edmondson 81, Southside 61

Senior Darius Morris scored 14 points, and D’Andre Green and Jerome Smith added 12, leading Edmondson past Southside Academy in a Division I contest in Cherry Hill. Sophomore guard William Christian led Southside with a game-high 17 points.

The Red Storm will next take the court in the 2A North Region playoffs while Southside will compete in the 1A North Region tourney.

Edmondson: Jackson 7, Kidd 8, Green 12, Lang 6, Bacen 5, Hall 6, Smith 12, Riddick 4, Morris 14, Mouzon 8. Totals 36 4-8 81.
Southside: W. Christian 17, Hamlet 10, A. Christian 7, Parton 14, Casley 1, Stansbury 10. Totals 20 13-22 61. Halftime: Edmondson 38, Southside 28.

Lake Clifton 68, Patterson 55

Senior guard Antoine Allen had 24 points, and Daniel Horton added 14, leading No. 2 Lake Clifton past Patterson to finish unbeaten in Division II. Cleveland Melvin had 12 for the Lakers (20-1, 8-0), who has Carver Tuesday remaining on the regular season schedule then will play No. 4 Douglass Feb. 27 for the city title.

Tyrell Crowell led Patterson with 15 points, and senior Coreise Bruce added 14. The Clippers host Harford Tech in their regular season finale Wednesday.

Crowell 15, Straghter 6, Howze 4, Padderson 6, Bruce 14, Lewis 10. Totals 22 8-12 55.
Lake Clifton: Allen 24, Gilmore 10, Horton 14, Melvin 12, Sharp 9. Totals 27 10-12 68. Halftime: Lake Clifton 40, Patterson 26.


Poly 61, Wilde Lake 43

Lawrence Weldon scored 16 points, and Richard Williams added 12 as Poly closed its regular season with a non-league victory over Wilde Lake. The Engineers (7-14) will play in the Class 2A North Region tournament in a couple of weeks. The Wildecats (2-18) play at Mount Hebron Tuesday in their Howard County and regular season finale.
